ROFLMAO!!  Have not heard from any of you in ten years.  Out of the blue, Michael asked if I was still an enthusiast and could maybe

look at a car about 50 miles away.  It was not convenient for me, and he did the deal anyway.  Then he emailed that I was being discussed here, so "Bob's yer Uncle", as some of my Antipodean mates are wont to say...  I was "old buddies" with a bunch of the blokes here, but times change, and some people move on.  It appears that some Pecker Heads like you, never change!!

Big Al, how the hell are you?  And Scargo, Se7en, and hotelcalifornia, Huge Canyon, and even arsehole Bill Cox and everyone else?  I am still here in CT, just a few miles north of the former "High Tide Cafe" on the CT River. No time for Minis the past 10 years, but the brand new 2017 WRX is just as much fun to drive (maybe more!), and I don't need to carry tools. Red line in 4th is a very fast 80+, or more?, and still 2 gears to go!!  LOVE! IT'S WHAT MAKES A SUBARU!!  I eat M3's for breakfast at the traffic light, on the way to work at 05:30. It was John Denardis, not DiNero, and he moved to Croatia, where I may try to look him up this fall, when 10 of us take a small, tall ship, Cruise down the Dalmatian Coast from Venice, to Athens with a long stop in Istanbul on the return, for ten days, in October.  Maybe Cox will loan me a skunk as a medical, assistance, therapy, travel pet?  Immigration will love that!  Miniguy emailed me about this thread, so thanks Michael!   I mostly spend time on the Sailinganarchy.com website, when not working, and even while working, LOL! If any of my old friends want to contact me the work email is: william.foster(at)pw.utc.com, where we make the F135 fighter engines, for the JSF LM 35, and also the new GTF Commercial engines, that save on fuel and are incredibly quiet. Laptop or iPhone is bill(at)mitchel.net, same as it's been for 30 years.  Hope you all are well and prospering!!

Just convenience and comfort. . 95 north is congested roadway. And we are a good 70 miles away. We load up the 2 pups when we go, and the mini is a no dog zone. Plus with the baby on board now, it's definitely not happening.

bikewiz..  too true..   always  BEST  to go  look and drive ANY older british car IN PERSON.. do NOT get lazy..  make sure the vin numbers match the  CT title also.. if you are buying out of state.  I think if older than 25 years.. yo must take the weatherfield CT..  tue- friday.. for vin inspection and safety inspection .. Also take for good 20 min. ride.. to make sure everything works,, does NOT smoke or overheat..  I here the WLB.s whinnie litte bitches all the time.here . well I bought a car from a broker , lic stealer   or off ebay and it has rust.. and NOT what I expected.and it leaks OIL  ( imagine that) and my mechanic says it will cost $20,000 to rebuild..the engine ALONE.. yada yada yada.. I NEVER hear this when they go  look in person..  later bc

Not CT but reasonably close on CraigsList, no skin in the game with this one but I found my car 40 miles from my house via Craigslist.
As Bill AKA Werewolf would say do your due diligence, go look drive it, ask lots of questions, be prepared to say no.

Skier -

You will find Mini owners if you search very carefully.  There was once a club called MOC - Mini Owners of Connecticut, although now dissolved. Go to car shows - Greenwich Concours, etc.... and look around - talk to other British car owners.
There is a group on Long Island - LIME - Long Island Mini Enthusiasts - not sure how active they are now. //www.limeny.org/
Maybe not too far from you. Where in CT are you located?

Rob Manocchio has one in CT.  oh - also try NEMINI - facebook page, some there own classic minis as well, or may know of some about.

Peter - 65 UK Moke, 60 Bugeye Sprite.  email:  [email protected]

Skier .... You are definitely going about this the right way. There are Mini owners in the Hudson Valley within two hours of Hartford, who I'm sure would be willing to accommodate your request. There are also others in New York, Rhode Island and New Jersey who attended Mini Meet East in Ohio about a month ago. If you'd like to possibly be contacted by some of these folks, email me directly via the address in my profile, and I will be happy to reach out to them on your behalf.

Another option is for you to visit Stowe VT. September 15-17 for the British Invasion. That's one of the largest annual British car shows on the east coast, and it's where you're bound to see some Mini's up close.

I have someone from there who contacted me about listing his classic Mini on the "Consignment - For Sale by Owner" page on my website.

I can put the two of you together.

Feel free to contact me directly ( [email protected] ), or put your email address in your profile.

Thanks. I'll shoot you an email. I'd be willing to drive anywhere within 1-2 hours of Hartford. So it doesn't need to be too close by. Almost out to Boston to the East and almost to Albany to the West. Up into southern Vermont and down into Northern NJ. I'd prefer not go into NYC or Long Island, but that is doable as well.

I also tried to check the "show email" button in the settings, but for some reason it wouldn't stay checked. I've tried it in both Firefox and Chrome.

I don't know how active they are, but I shot them an email and got a response saying they would send request out to their list and let members contact me. I haven't heard anything yet, but I only sent my email on Friday.

I've really liked the idea of a classic Mini since I saw my first one up close in a parking lot back in 2002. Unfortunately, I haven't seen one since. I've never sat in one, ridden in one, etc. I hope to be in a position to buy one within the next couple years. I was wondering if there was anyone in (or near) Connecticut that may be willing to show me their classic Mini and give me some advice on what to look out for when buying one.
