Yes, I have several that got so far off center the speedo drive housing broke off, Those are the ones I threw even the hardware away. Check the condition of the first motion shaft bore and the spigot on the third motion shaft. If the double ball bearing split in half the case bore can be damaged. Another thing to check for is damage to the crown wheel and pinion teeth. I have buckets of what I call high quality scrap steel ( old gears and shafts ) what I am short on is DAM 5626 tranny cores. recently bought one which is missing a tooth on the first/second shift hub. Until this week I had four boxes 6x10x12 with all A+ gears cleaned inspected under large loop and corn cob blasted. All shafts cleaned and inspected blasted with corn cob or replaced. Every bearing new as well as shift forks and any replacement parts. I have assembled two this week and have two cores to replace them with. If anyone has a 5626 core they would part with contact info in my profile. Steve (CTR)

This is a problem with the late DAM 5626 trannys. I have a pile of gear cases which have suffered this issue. I check the third motion double ball bearing bore very carefully. None of the ones I have checked will ever go back into service. When they fail that badly the shafts have run off center long enough to create are wear pattern on the constant mesh gears. There have been several suffering this type failure where I was unable to reuse any part of the org. gear box, and I ever threw the hardware away for good measure. Steve (CTR)

I am in the middle of a rod change gearbox rebuild that had its main double roller bearing go.  When it went it took the snap ring with it. Getting the new bearing is easy but does anyone know where I can get the snap ring that retains it?

Thanks,
Phil
