A little di electric grease on the lens seal will help stop the water getting in as well.
I have also been stamping out mylar reflectors, rubber cemented to the socket base, makes the light much brighter with any bulb, and is required to get good light from rear aiming LED lamps. I could send you a couple or ten, if you see others with mini's, for a snail mail addy. Cheers

Just corrosion from moisture ingress, check the seal. If you put a smear of vasaline on the bulb it should stop a re-occurance.
Mini's are like buses they come along in a bunch

Any idea if there is a specific reason for such corrosion buildup? If so how do I prevent it from happening again?
It's right front turn indicator on a (true) MKIV Mini. Bulb is corroded into place. Other side is fine. Car has been sitting for two years in garage with battery negative (only) disconnected. Upon getting car running again noticed indicator not working. Investigation lead to the attached discovery.
