Mike Guido's Minissan should be a good example of power and driveability. It's a V6 but is still up front.

Back in the 80s my dad's friend built a Yugo as a joke. It had a 2.2 Turbo motor up front and a Cadillac V8 in the rear. He took it to autocross events for a while. It kinda pushed a little.

I have been in a 464 front mounted mini, during a full burnout it went straight and fast. The best part was when the cab filled with smoke as we launched. The car came to a unfortunate end one day when the throttle jammed. The car hit a gully and broke its frame. That was the last of that car. I've always been fond of the idea of being strap to a rocket seigh, so I guess that ride in the mini will have to do. What fun. Cheers

Joltfreak has (or had) a mini with a V8 sideways in the back seat. Maybe he has some good pics. This is one i took at Ancaster couple years ago. Found another pic. Mosport I think.

when she said "its so small" she meant the car right?

It would have to be £50 notes in afraid, lol. This will be my umpteenth mini. Bit I think I might make it my first hill climbing mini.

Scratch the V8 and shoehorn in an impreza engine.

Sorry Wiggy. For a project like this if you are asking how to do it you are already in too deep. It can be done and if you had the ability you would already have the cutting torch out.

there's no point of going V8 or even V6 on a mini, with it's narrow wheelbase, it can get squirly on take off and upon shifting gears. but yah know, to each his own, if that's your trip, go for it bro!!!  just ignore the purists, they'll surely jump on you,,,,Lol   see?, one purist even asked  why, why why???,lol

Sorry to come off like a smart-arse, but the only sensible way I see is to remove the stock mini drive train and mount the car backwards on a dolly behind a v8 pickup.

It's a uni body car with subframes that are too small to accommodate any larger engine than the smallest V8s made.  To mount  one in the rear would mean there is nothing left of the original mini, nor of the passenger compartment.

If you have read this far, know that it has been done.  A V8 rear engined clubman wagon was featured in MiniWorld magazine a couple years ago.  You may try your luck on www.theminiforum.co.uk under the engine swaps area, but you are still basically going to wind up building a rear engine buggy Fram and dropping a mini shell on top.

Hello, is there anyone out there who has any instructions etc on how to put a V8 into the rear of a classic.
