Sharp looking car. An owner's handbook/owner's manual and a service or workshop manual will help you to learn how this car work's. It is actually pretty simple and reliable. Also, it is clear to me that your local Snap On guy returns calls pretty quickly, a great advantage.

Hello,
for some reason I can't post a pic I don't know why but to be honest I didn't know it had a choke I'm very familiar with mechanics but on old cadillacs I own a1967 coupe and 1964 coupe but this tiny thing call mini scares my like you don't have an idea, any ways the carburetor has the the float bowl on the left side I'm at work now but I will try to post pics tomorrow thank you for the fast response.
best regards,
Rafael

Can you show us a picture of the carb. I'm guessing an HS4, but may be an HIF. ( If the float bowl is on the side of the carb it's HS4 )
Are you using choke to start? MINIs usually need a little choke regardless of warm weather or not it seems....but just for start-up.
The black on the door is a sign that your mixture is too rich.
If you have a workshop manual, it will describe the process of testing mixture.
It could simply be that your choke is stuck "on"...meaning the jet of the carb is pulled down allowing a stronger fuel mixture. This is a common problem and easy to make right
