While it's the perfect coil to go with the PerTronix Ignitor breakerless ignition in your MINI, the new 40,000 volt Flame-Thrower can benefit virtually any distributor type induction system. For one thing, the higher voltage allows larger spark plug gaps for added power, smoother response and better fuel economy.
3.0 ohm for unballasted systems.
Choose from chrome (40501) or OEM black (40511), they're oil filled for better cooling and voltage insulation; or get the epoxy version (40611) of the Flame-Thrower when extreme vibration is a factor.

Question:
Is this good for a Sprite 1275 engine with electronic points ?
Answer:
Yes, it's best to use the 3 Ohm coils with electronic distributors. Make sure there's no ballast resistor in your ignition circuit first. If so, you should bypass it.

Question:
In the wiring diagram for my Classic Min diagram 18 in Haynes manual the pink wire going to the coil has a resister in it. Is this the correct coil or do I have to make wiring changes to use it.
Answer:
That means it's a ballasted type. So, no, this one is for non-ballasted ignitions. You should get a coil for ballasted systems (assuming the resistor (ballast) is still part of the circuit.
