Steering Rack Mkii & Later Left Hand Drive-mini & Cooper

Steering Rack Mkii & Later Left Hand Drive-mini & Cooper
If you are interested in performance driving then you know reaction time from the driver to the car is critical; the time it takes to turn the steering wheel to the desired angle is important! The stock steering rack is 2.7 turns lock to lock, our quick ratio version is 2.2
Does not include steering tie rod ends. See GSJ100 for standard tie rod ends and GSJ158 for longer tie rod ends for lowered cars.
Will fit a Mk I car as long as the steering arms are changed, too. See BTA896 and -897.
See FAM7307MS for standard ratio, Mk II, left hand drive rack.
For right hand drive, see GSR626E and C-GSR626.

Mini suspension, steering and handling data

The data on this page relates to all Minis unless specified. Major changes to suspension and steering are limited to the introduction of a new steering rack and steering arms for Mk2-on models. Mk2 steering arms have two `ears' to aid in the use of ball joint splitters; this is how they may be differentiated from Mk1 steering arms.

Very early Mk1 Minis (to around 1960) were made with 3 inch rims instead of 3.5 inch. The earliest 3 inch rims were made out of very thin steel which was soon thickened by 20 thou.

Always use matching steering racks and arms (i.e. all Mk1 or all Mk2-on).
