LAYGEAR 1275 - MINI & MINI COOPER S
The 3-syncro tranny for the Cooper "S" uses the 22G1100 laygear. Not only does the first gear end of the shaft typically take abuse but the ID where the bearing rides also will loose its surface hardening. If your gearbox makes a lot of noise it probably is this gear! This same laygear is used in the Spridget ribcase tranny, which may also appear in a Minor!!
