STABILIZER STEADY BAR KIT LOWER RH (FLYWHEEL SIDE)

Lower Stabilizer Kit, RH
Designed as an almost mandatory addition to any Mini with a rod change transmission, extra stabilizers will greatly aid any car. In stock form the control is left to the upper stabilizer. This often results in not only significant movement but even a cracking and breaking of the bracket that is welded to the bulkhead.
This kit fits to the lower clutch casing/flywheel case studs and then goes rearward to bolt on the rear leg of the subframe, where one hole will be required.
The bushes used are the stock bushes as used in the stock upper stabilizer
Kits are made for both the right or left side of the tranny; either or both can be used.
(See MSSK1 which fits on the left side and connects to the lower front gearbvox case studs/bolts and goes rearward to bolt on the rear leg of the subframe, where one hole will be required.)

fitting tips, update
    09/16/2007

kerr
Pros: very steady

Cons: shares one fixing point with the factory steady, see below...

Other Thoughts: correction of my earlier post:

to fit this and retain the factory lower steady, you need 5/16" "engine studs" (these are the studs that are course thread on one side and fine thread on the other) that you can buy at any hardware store, (2) of them 2" long, and (1) of them 2 1/2" long. Stack 4 washers under the other two mounting points to level it with the top surface of the factory steady.

tips for installation of RH lower steady
    09/14/2007

kerr
Pros: KC highly recommends fitting both of these lower engine steadies to reduce engine movement and reduce risk of header cracking.

Cons: The RH side steady interferes with the factory fitted lower steady because they want to share one fixing point, but the thickness of the bracket makes that not possible.

Other Thoughts: When fitting to a late model mini that has the factory fitted, lower RH steady that reaches forward to the front of the subframe (and shares one bolt with this new one), you can use both parts together if you use longer bolts* and stack washers underneath the other two mounting points of the new part so that the new part sits nicely on top of the existing steady.

*I heard that intake manifold studs are the right thread/length for this but have not confirmed it yet.
