No need in extending your Mini for this swap. This kit allows you to fit the Honda B Series engine into your Mini without any external body modifications. The MTB2 Series was designed to install Honda's B-Series DOHC engines into the Classic Mini (1959-2000), upgrading the Classic Minis A-Series engine with today's most trusted engines built by Honda. With more than six times the horsepower of a stock Mini 850 and a thousand times the reliability, you might realize the reason for the swap. Reliability and knowing that your car will run in any condition is a great feeling to have everyday. Have fun with your Classic Mini.

We have taken all of the headaches out of this engine swap by developing the MTB2 sub-frame. Specifically designed for the Standard length Mini and the Honda B-Series engine, the MTB2 sub-frame mounts directly to the Mini using the two stock Mini tower front sub-frame mounting bolts, then the Honda engine mounts directly to the sub-frame using the hardware and brackets that are supplied with the Kit. It is as simple as that!

The MTB2 Kit #530000 Includes the following:
  • MTB2 sub-frame, RH and LH fully adjustable upper suspension Arms,
  • RH and LH lower suspension arms,
  • 2 custom hybrid chromoly 400 hp axle shafts,
  • and all of the hardware and instructions that you will need for the Honda B-series engine installation.

All sub-frames are painted black. This kit was designed to use 1992-95 Honda EG Civic mounts or 1994-2001 Acura Integra DC mounts. Other modifications may be required. It is best to start this project using an OBD1 or OBD2 engine.

  • Coil-Over Shocks
  • Engine and ECU Wiring Harness
  • Modified Honda ECU (OBD1)
  • Aluminum Radiator

Additional steering modifications are required to convert RHD Minis.

Question:
If I buy this kit how can I get ahold of a VTEC engine b2 ? And would this fit into a 69 Mk 2 mini?
Answer:
Used Honda engines can be had from many sources - only a few years ago you could get them just about any auto recycler so long as you knew what to look for. Currently, there are many suppliers for overstock JDM import engines for hondas - JDM California Motors is one that comes to mind. 

As for fitting it into your mini - all minis will require some modification to fit these kits - typically will require on average about 100 hours of work for a well-equipped shop and we do recommend shop installation. Some fabrication is necessary for things like fuel, shift linkage, exhaust, ect.

Question:
Will this fit a New MINI R60 2011 Countryman S chassis?
Answer:
No - these are specific to the original Classic Minis - 2000 and older - I am not aware of any engine kits like this for the New BMW MINIs.

Question:
I understand that the engine and gearbox will enter perfectly inside a mini clubman classic, but how about the driveshafts? What driveshafts should I use and would I need to do any modifications to the b series driveshafts?
Answer:
The axle shafts are included in this kit - they are hybrid shafts that use the Honda inner CV and the Mini outers.

Would this subframe kit fit into a 1979 mini clubman??
Answer:
Yes, this will fit the Clubmans, no modification is needed.
