MagDog Removes Engine Debris

Studies by industry experts, educational institutions, professional associations, and others have consistently determined that very small ferrous debris (often less than 5 microns in size) traveling through a vehicle's lubrication system may cause considerable damage to engine wear-sensitive surfaces.

Improving Your Mini Cooper Gas Mileage

by Don Racine
Most engines (and all Minis) use an electric spark to start the burning of the fuel/air mixture which in turn powers the car. If the engine is to run properly this 'electric spark' must happen at the exact right time.

Mini Cooper Verto Clutch Information

This article has been written owing to the increasing amount of people who ring Mini Spares stating that their 1275cc Injection type Mini will not start after fitting a new clutch, especially when they have purchased the parts from another supplier, usually a motor factoring company, rather than a Mini specialist.. There are 2 types of Pressure plates, namely AP (Automotive Products) and Valeo.

coming down Friday morning, and after everyone lays down rubber on the "racing line" I expect my afternoon three runs to be winners...! ha ha Plus I'm going to lighten the car by opening the windows, and get rid of unsprung weight by replacing 28 pounds of air with helium, and hold my left foot off the floor.

See you all on Friday!! And stop by the "Mini Bar in the Mini Car" on Saturday! My wife's pride and joy!

Just ran into Terry (partsguy1). He had quite the trip down from Canada. The ole blown head gasket trick. Nothing like wrenching in the hotel parking lot.

We're waiting on everybody else to get here.

Dean, I have a 8X10 (or 10X12?) sunshade that you can use. It's made out of a woven fabric so it's like 50% shade not 100% like the pop up tents. It's been stored in my garage for years but it's yours if you want it. You have to assemble the frame work and all so it's not as convenient as the pop up type but it's probably better than sitting in the sun all day.

I'm driving down to the hotel Friday afternoon and my wife can bring it down in the BINI if needed. I'm working Wed and Thurs nights so just post here, email me or call me at 661-714-1814 (before 4 am friday morning) and I'll bring it down.   dan

(hell, I might even have the assembly instructions still)

Tori your going to have to pay shipping charges now when you want dooderwear.

The folks who buy at the show save the $4.00 for shipping with every shirt.

So I learned yesterday after talking to Graham at Heritage that there won't be any pop up tents available.

Does anyone have one I can borrow? Rent? Steal?

Sorry fellas,  i think im out for this years event.   I definately cannot make the autocross.   My co-worker is already taking friday off,  so that makes it impossible for me to have the day off.

Glad you made it Dave.   I guess Partsguy1 is also having trouble.  He was 40 miles away last nite with a blown head gasket.  Murray called me for assistance.  I didn't hear from them today so they must be doing okay.

Tori, I finally made it down. From what I heard there's 120 pre registered vintage minis. Don't be surprised to see 20% more that haven't registered (including myself). I saw the autocross site, and it could be set up for 3rd gear or higher. It's going to be very cool. Don't forget your rc car.

Yes, that would be a problem.  It's a hotel.  They won't allow sleeping in cars.

Thanks guys.   The 3pm ending time helps a ton !

Sorry to be such a whiner,  just trying to talk out my stumbling blocks.

Think it'd be a problem if i slept in my tow vehicle there at the hotel wherever the tow rigs are allowed to park ?

The other folks somehow managed to get Friday off without whining about it first.
As far as the autocross schedule, you have from 8am till 3pm to do your 3 runs.  You could show up at 8 and plow through 3 runs right away, youcould disperse them throughout the day, or you could show up at 2:30 and get them all in.  So you could easily leave on friday morning, get to Irvine by noon by taking the scenic less traffic-filled path (pch), have lunch, then go for your runs.

Other than the things that Cliff mentioned, just generally, you will feel completely left out of the fun when the pics and stories start appearing on this site in another few days...and you will think to yourself, "that's all going on just a little more than an hour from me.  I could have easily gone and been part of the excitement!"

As for the hotel, have you thought about asking board members to see if anyone wants to lower their hotel costs by having a roomie for the weekend?  I'm sure there are a few people with a spare bed in their room!

Grover Beach isn't that far. Full registration includes 2 meals - There won't be a closer MMW for another 6 years or so.

Not sure if that was enough of a push.

Hey gang..............  so im really wanting to go to MMW.  I had a blast last time.... but somethings are standing in the way.

1.  Haven't really conisdered going untill just now... so there has been no pre-registration

2. I cant afford it,  the fuel to get there, the hotel, or the $125 registration

I'd love to go,  but need a push.....  talk me into it guys.

....besides,  whats a Mini Meet without a supercharged mini ?
