It should work just fine if it is original inside.

Will this work on a mini with the original ignition system (point & condenser)?

For anyone interested, please note this is a CURRENT sensing tach, as opposed to a VOLTAGE sensing tach. (hooks up quite differently). I don't know enough about the Pertronix to absolutely say one way or another whether it'll work, but I do have an RVI tach in my classic Mini (standard coil/ignition) and it works well. I vaguely recall someone having an issue with the RVI tachs and some kind of electronic ignition type, but again, not sure if it was Pertronix or some other kind. I bought it off eBay and it was orginally for a early 70's MGB.....as I understand it, the SMITHS tach's were supplied for many different vehicles.

I've used both RVI and RVC Smiths tachs with IGNITOR. Just hooked them up .... no problem.

Good luck! I had one on Ebay recently with a housing for $100 but no takers.

As title states I have a restored classic Smiths 80MM Tach for sale. It is a Late 60's early 70's Smiths accessory tach. This originally had a hubcap needle but the guy who sold it to me painted over the hubcap with black paint !! ?? The face id is: RVI 1003/00. I never installed this and it was sold to me in restored condition. I am asking $125.00 Shipped anywhere in the USA. My email address is: brandonsan71 at gmail dot com
