Improving Your Mini Cooper Gas Mileage

by Don Racine

Mini Cooper Verto Clutch Information

This article has been written owing to the increasing amount of people who ring Mini Spares stating that their 1275cc Injection type Mini will not start after fitting a new clutch, especially when they have purchased the parts from another supplier, usually a motor factoring company, rather than a Mini specialist.. There are 2 types of Pressure plates, namely AP (Automotive Products) and Valeo.

Start at the fues box! All the fuses may look OK and test OK but lurking on the back of the fusebox is the scourge of mini electrics. The fuse box connections are brass strips riveted together, but are exposed on the back-side to moisture and dirt. The'll look fine from the front but be a pretty green colour on the back. Even on clean cars, they can be ugly! The solution is to get a new replacement - one of the cheaper Mini fixes.

I have a 73 Canadian 1000  LHD

from l to r in the center of the dash...

choke-- wiper--windshield washer--lights-- heater valve pull

The lights and wipers are a rocker type switch

The ckoke pulls out and locks like all of them

The washer pump gloes when the lights are on

The heater valve pull operation is same on all older Mini's

on my '76 it is from R to L lights pump for washer and wipers, BUT it is RH drive. Near the door, R to L is pull for heater core valve, heater fan switch, and pull for vent position.

on the steering coloum it is up for left, down for right, push for high beams pull to flash the guy in your lane and push in to say have a nice day.

They should do something.

If it is a 73, the next one should be the wipers I think, next maybe rear defrost, brake test light, hazards,
