I seem to recall a story about when they first tested the new car with a 948. Since it was way too fast, they reduced the size of the engine, but I thought that they also made the car wider as well? Just to be on the safe side, you may want to make sure that you have permission to use the attached drawing and pictures in your article. Quack. Quack. Orange Cream soda. Shaken, not stirred. Served with a side of melted peanut butter toast.

I liked the part about how the 948 was deemed too fast, nice article, easy quick read with facts that can be retained.

I would like to continue the articles through the endop of production in 2000. I may have separate sub-histories for the Clubman and Coopers, but that'll depend on how much time I have (which probably isn't much).

I wrote an article on the development of the Mini at Autosavant (http://www.autosavant.net/). It's located at: http://www.autosavant.net/2008/08/mini-story-part-one.html There's some criticism of BMC/Issigonis in the article, which may be too much for the true believer. Check it out and leave some comments there--let me know exactly how badly I screwed it up. And take the poll here!
