"When I paid it some attention (the car, not the guy!!),"

It's OK Benny were all friends here. No one is going to judge ...

That was a cool Jag and the driver really looked like he was enjoying the day. Great show again today.

John

I don't see a picture of it here, but there was a rock-solid, "driver level" Mk.II Jag there today with a really cool story.

I spotted this young guy (21-22) standing next to his medium-blue Mk.II, just dying to talk to someone about his car.  When I paid it some attention (the car, not the guy!!), he went on to tell me that the car was totally original, and that his grandfather had bought the car new in Italy in about '65.  He later took it with him to France, then to Guam, then finally to southern California in the late 60's.  The car had been stashed away for many years in a garage until his grandfather recently passed away, and it was left to this young guy as his inheritance.

He had got the car running (really well), and was driving it around as his weekend cruiser, just fixing things on a purely as-needed basis.  He told me that he planned to leave the car as original as possible, because it was more fun to drive that way......I told him he was doing the right thing, and that it would be an absolute shame to restore the car, given its history.

I had to laugh toward the end of our conversation when he told me that he liked it the way it was because he would "probably be scared to drive the car if it had a really nice, $1,000 paint job on it".........I just smiled and said, "Yep, those $1,000 paint jobs can be a real burden sometimes".......he'd probably faint if he knew what it would really cost to paint that car well, or rebuild the XK engine, for that matter.

It was cool to meet a young guy with an appreciation for something like that.  He kind of reminded me of myself just a few years ago.......not that my grandfather ever left me anything cool!!

Wow. A Tucker and a Power Wagon. what a wide range. I'd vote for the Rossian too, if it only had tags to prove it was owned and driven, and not just a dealer show-off. You really get up early to serve this up to the rest of us. Big pat on the back!
