Come on guys, there is an easy fix for this

My Toyota Sienna dashboard low tire pressure idiot light kept coming on wrongly.

I just put a piece of black tape over it.

Who needs it? How many years did you drive without this "feature?"

Adding on...if you have a Chrysler product, including a Jeep, beware the corrosion problem that arises between the dissimilar metals in the valve stem.  The outer sleeve that holds the valve stem in the wheel will corrode, split and leave you with a flat tire after crossing a bump in the road if not before.

Fall before last I was heading out on a Sunday morning for Mule Deer hunting with the wifey.  Had Jeep loaded, checked the tire pressures...and advised wifey that if I could not fix the valve sleeve issues we would not be going anywhere that day.

Fortunately, as I was leaving the auto parts shop empty handed, the partner of a service shop in town asked "What are you up to?"  I told him and his response was meet me at the garage in 15 minutes.

We pulled the wheels, removed the tires, threw all pressure sensors in the garbage and installed 1960's valve stem technology.  End of the problem.  Yes, I get the warning on start up because the poor computer does'nt know what happened...but I do.

It is also MANDATORY that you ensure ALL tires are at a reasonable and EQUAL pressure before resetting! If they are not in synch with each other, it will also trip the warning. The best "minimum pressure" for the 2007+ MINIs seems to be 32 to 35 psi. Check your door sticker to be sure as some have been known to indicate as much as 38 psi as the standard inflation. If you have them equal but at 30 psi and the system wants 37, it will trip the warning.

It is a VERY picky system and has been known to even dislike the tire positions being rotated.

A few times the system tripped immediatly after resetting, like 3 times in a row. Now I just wait till the tire are worm to reset.

VERY ANNOYING!

I would like to reset the NORMAL setting.

Hey guys, here at the Honda Dealership where i work all new cars get nitrogen installed before the cars are delivered,we had constant complaints about the tpms light always coming on every time the weather changes. The nitrogen does not react to the cooling and heating issues like filling up at the gas station.

My wife took our 2011 Nissan Frontier to the shop the other morning. She was the 7th that morning for the same reason. Low pressure indicator came on because of the weather change. The next morning it came on again right before she arrived at her job. Pull over and actually had a flat. Picked up a vampire stake on the way to work. Had to buy a new tire. Next morning the low pressure light came on, on my 2008 Mazda 3. Checked my tires and they were low. Aired them up, light went out and light hasn't come back on.

On my E46M3 the "normal" level is resettable by a dash button. Sorry, not certain how it's done on the MINI, but based on design it should be easily possible.

The light comes on when "below normal" pressure is transmitted... so for cold weather you likely need to rest "normal" to a lower point. Or you could air up a couple of psi and that would also likely solve it...
