If anyone local to me is after some MK3 + stock seats, I've got a pair of later fronts in tan-ish worn fabric, and a pair of fat vinyl tan seats. small tear in seat bottom of drivers side.  Also a pair of moulded old school Corbeau buckets.  Tall withs padded rivets. Fabric dirty but foam has collapsed.  Slots for harnesses.  On   LONG ISLAND, NY

And a quote from an earlier post on this thread-

."..and most Mini guys I know are wayyyyyy to cheap to spend that kind of dough."

Are we all tarred with the same brush because we drive minis ????

Most people l deal with in the used parts area, gladly pay the asking price as long as the parts are in good shape and what they want-

Mind you certain Nationalities love to haggle, some want to wrestle you to the ground over a nickel (5 cents) but it is what it is.......

These seats are from a 93 Mazda Rx7. Very comfortable but hard to get into rear seat with them folded

I'm selling the seats out the Mini I just picked up. It's got a CRX drivers seat (RHD), and black passenger and matching rear seat. Would be could for a cruiser, but not my style for this build. I was thinking $225 for all of it...

I had the corbeau gts II seats in my other Mini a few back, and I like the look, feel, etc, but they just did not fit right in the Mini, way too tall of a seat. You could not really tip the seat forward to gain rear access. You would have to fold, slide, then almost be able to get in the back.

I will weight them this morning and let you know soon.

Update: its 30 pounds with the rails, buckles, and plastic trim. I guess its the same as the CRX. What about the Lotus seats?

For ten plus years I had '89 jaguar XJS sport seats, power lumbar and heaters....high side bolsters and separate headrests....they fit nicely in a mk1 and had tilt and a separate seat back release to get in e rear....very comfy on road trips and didn't look tooo modern....

Metalman, lucky me I'm not a Miataphile! I like my seats and was happy to find them at that price even if they are "undesirable." I have to admit they were ugly when they were tan, but I never planned to keep them that color. Good thing I don't know what the "comfortable" ones are like.

Maybe you just dont know that much about Miata parts pricing? Just guessing here. I have been into them for 20 years, parting them since the mid 90s, longer than most vendors in the biz today. FM isnt currently doing salvage parts, and when companies first begin salvage they often underprice things until they figure out the market. Its a common mistake and they will normally soon realize that although they are selling there is no profit in the sale. I can look at your seats again to be sure but IIRC you have 99-00 tan seats that you colored in red. 99-00 seats are some of the less desirable Miata seats, they are known for being 'uncomfortable' and having much less support than early seats or later seats....at least to Miataphiles.

Many people misjudge a whole hobby and its related pricing based upon 1 or 2 transactions. A lot of people think Mini's are 'cheap'...but we all know better dont we.

Decent condition? As in not needing upholstery work? Or suitable for upholstery?

Nice Miata seats go for $200-300 a pair generally. They are getting increasingly hard to find in nice shape. I have a pair at the moment that will bring $175-200 with sliders.

Seats with sliders, needing upholstery go for less. Keep in mind, you can buy various color upholstery kits from less than $200, (they are easy to install) and fancy custom leather kits up to $600ish.

As for the weight, NO stock Mazda or other jap car seat is going to weigh under 15 lbs. Standard weights will fall in the 25-35lb range fully dressed with rails. If you need some 5 lb seats I know where you can get them but they will run $1300-2000 a pair....and most Mini guys I know are wayyyyyy to cheap to spend that kind of dough.

Sven, if you want to see more of how Miata seats fit/look, check out the gallery section of the MiniTec website, www.superfastminis.com

The Miata units are their seat of choice and there are many shots of them there.

Hi all, After hafing my 71 mini in storage with little use while overseas for 4.5 years I found it had been experiencing quite a large mouse clan squating in it. As a result I am not sure I can de mouse the seats fully as washing the covers is not likely to do it.

Thus I am looking into replacing the seats and like Mini mike am looking into other seat options as it seems pretty expensive to reupholster the orginal mklll seats, which are not that comfy nor supporting.

Is anyone in the CT New England area that has used, miata or other seats in their mini ? I would like to see how it looks and fits before I determine what solution I go for.

Also what should be a reasonable price for say miata seats in decent conditon ?

Tanks and sorry or barging into your thread. Mini Mike.
