I know it´s an old thread, but i´m searching these red lenses.
I own two left lenses and I am looking for a right one.
Maybe somebody is selling one complete taillight or the right lense only.
An exchange might also be possible.
Regards from Germany,
Robert

I guess I never went back to this thread. The wheels were just painted with silver paint.
For some reason that car came with an extra set of wheels and tires along with tire chains and for some reason I painted a set silver.

Weather in the mid 50 here yesterday. We went to the warehouse rechecked all the part numbers Lucas, BMC, BLMC and Rover. No luck on the upper half of van/estate, MK2 all red or P/U truck. We also looked for 850 floor start push buttomes and the button which does not appear as a Lucas number so far. It has been fun looking. Steve (CTR)

This 66 definitely had red tops. I am pretty sure it was an early US requirement throuhg Jan 1 1968.
It was a possible way you could tell a self-imported car back then.

Terry, are those chrome Cooper S wheels? Just out of curiousity, did they come on the car or did you have them chromed? My friend John (over in England) worked at a BMC dealer back in the 60's and he said they got a set of chrome Cooper S wheels in a factory parts order once. He bought them straight up and has kept them all these years. He said he never saw another set on a car or in inventory/catalogs.

Thanks Mal, and I guess you may be right but I was looking and it seems Parnell posted the dec 66 date. That would make all 67s amber over red. I was there and I recall three MK2 1967s coming to a couple of serious mini guys. Bob Williams bought one in dark bllue for his wife Mazie and she drove it as a daily till they got out of minis lock stock and barrel. They may have come thought Spreen in NJ. I think I recall Bob saying something about the tail lamps when I traded car and Cash my 1960 850 for a 67 Cooper S complete but the power unit was missing. I plan to get some LED lamps if I run a MK 1 on the street again. I love my third brake on Alex's MK3 hood level for compacts bumper for SUVs but there to be seen. I got a liink where repos are being sold about the same price. That's the way it is. There was three different style boxes. Some even had the slick paper wrap. Why can't I find a case of washer bottles? Steve (CTR)

Looks like those will be a bit more of a challenge. This guy has a lot of Lucas we found part numbers and cross reference numbers. Just no lens. Does anyone know when US MK1s went to amber tops? Steve (CTR)
Did I read Dec of 66?
I am not sure if they ever did Steve, it may have always been a UK requirement. MK I's finished production in 67 then the MK II's came out and the US stopped importing them.
If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

Steve,
as history shows, most likely when they ran out of the red ones on the production line!
