We (Minis Of The Rockies - minisrock.com) are planning for June 24-28, 2019 in Snowmass Village, down the road from Aspen, on the western side of the continental divide. We're planning on having high altitude tune-up stops in Fruita, CO and in Denver, for those from lower elevations. Ghost towns, mountain roads, scenery. Were about to sign the hotel contract. Still need to take over admin of the MMW webpage.

It ain't easy being green!

My suggestion is Grand Junction Colorado.  Halfway between Salt Lake City and Denver, so unfortunately no North/South major highways without heading to SLC or Denver.  From Grand Junction there are numerous great drives - up to the top of the Grand Mesa and up the Colorado National Monument.  Longer drives would get you to Moab Utah and of course Durango, Silverton, and Ouray.  Just a thought ...

Belle Fourche is the site of the geographic center of the 50 United States (Lebanon, Kansas is the geographic center of the 48 contiguous states).

Belle Fourche, South Dakota would also be closer to the "centering" of Canada & USA.

Hmm....

Mike, I think "classic Mini" would include your GTM, a Marcos, etc. The general idea is simply to have an East and a West A-series winner. I'm thinking a fair determination is simply google from place of residence to event, as a method fair to an interstate route or two-lane byways, i.e., "how far away do you live?" But I could be inhaling Lucas smoke.......

Cupcake, Lebanon, KS, is half way between East and West!  Kansas City would be a fun location, but I'm a little biased on that one.  lenty to do in town and lots of winding, hilly drives with great scenery.  I might have my daily driver, clubby estate presentable by then!

Would that be longest distance as the crow flies, as driven, as Google maps calculates, as your extended holidays add to it or how far you had to push? What if you have an A series in another body, say an Ogle, a Unipower or a GTM or an A series in a new Mini?  If you drive a new Mini flat towing a classic Mini does the mileage on the classic Mini count?

As long as we're throwing out ideas here for an event pretty far in the future, I'd suggest and EAST long-distance award and a WEST long-distance award. Let's say, for the sake of argument, that the next one's in Missoula, MT. It's a slam dunk for someone coming from the East to come the furthest distance. But at the same time, it's quite a drive for someone from, say, San Diego, and one way or the other might entail fewer direct routes. Maybe not a bad idea to acknowledge and reward both directions. And it goes without saying (although I'm saying it) the awards would be for "driven A-Series classic Minis." Only.

Denver, 1984.  Denver, 1989.  Colorado Springs, 1999.

If we were to have another EMW in Colorado we could go inland a bit, maybe Granby, which is an awesome place.
