Brilliant idea - variable pitch so it sucks up less hp at speed.  Because it would flow optimally at all speeds, it's possible it might have been designed with an over-high pitch at slow speed which would help everybody trying to select a fan for tropical, etc.

Paul that is your Mk.XXI Spit right?  Do you take off on the drag strip next door?

Larry thanks for the link...I want to get one of those now.

Dowty fan is a good addition to a Mini in a hot climate.

I have a new one in it's rather shabby box if anyone fancies making me an offer. Post from Uk.

Red one sold years ago. Blue one "tuned" a bit.

They seem to work very well - I've been using them on and off for 20-odd years.

Might have a spare somewhere.

I just ran accross a interesting Fan from Dowty, a Mini in the Mini World issue has it listed as one of the upgrades to a Downton modified mini.  Thought it was interesting and kinda nostalgic, but had not heard of it before.  Has a variable pitch which is supposed to use less HP and give better MPG.  I have seen them as in Gold or Yellow in color with a 4 blade format.  any thoughts, recomendations, or opinions?

Thanks,

SirCoop
