Welcome Kent! Oh my, your quote above - where do we start?
First, women. About 100x more than a 911, even yours.
Second, get another drip pan.
Third, Oregon is practically Mini Central in the US. Get on the Oregon Minis FB page, they're a great group.
Fourth, this forum is the best technical resource in the US. please ask frequent questions.

Depending on your gearbox/gears ratios, You'll be humming along at abour 4500rpm in 4th at 70mph. Not too bad if you're not planning on too many road trips. I think you'll love it around town though.
I'll mirror the comment on a GPS speedo of some kind just to verify your speedo. Other than that.. go have fun in it!

I found that noise-cancelling earphones work really well.
I had used earplugs or regular earphones before, but this year driving 4 hrs to MinMeetEast I tried the electronic ones. Much quieter and less wear and tear on your brain when you get there.

LHD or RHD? One thing that will catch you off guard is lane position. If you are use to driving a motorcycle, it won't be bad, but if you drive a larger car/truck often, you will find youself riding one line or the other. I find it easy to stick myself in the middle of the lane when driving. Also download a spedometer gauge app on your phone because you may find it handy. with an engine swap and 13" wheels, your spedo is probably wrong.
If you have never been in one of these cars, either earplugs or earbuds and music. They are basically beer cans with no noise protection at all. A long drive will wear on you.
Don't wear big shoes. I can't drive in boot in my car and generally have to drive with my shoes off. Also, if the steering wheel is wood or solid, bring some driving gloves. Tossup if you need them, but sometimes a set can save you from being worn out fom the buzz.
I think that covers my experience.

I am betting closer to 5000rpm.

At 70mph in your new car, I would imagine closer to 4500rpm

Always wanted one.  icking it up in SFO next week, driving home to western Oregon. It's a 62 with the 1380cc MiniMania engine. Upgraded suspension and 13X7 wheels. Looking forward to some autoxing and track days as well as just driving it around. It has the 3.76:1 final drive so I suppose highway cruising will be noisey. I have a 72 Porsche 911 with a twin plug 3.0L that turns 3500rpm at 70 mph so probably about the same.
Anything someone new to the Mini should watch out for?
Thanks Kent Olsen
