Your question was if Rover made any V8s other than the GM engine.  That sort of depends on what you consider Rover and how far back you want to go.  What immediately comes to mind are the 2.5 liter V8 engines used in various Daimlers and Jags through the 1960s.

As for anti-seize on spark plugs, I use it.  If you choose not to, that's fine.  The factory didn't use it.

Just the one, although it bore little resemblance to the Buick 215 at the end. It was used in F1 and F5000 for a year or two as well.

Forgive my ignorance, but did Rover make any V8s other than the GM 215 V8 and it's derivatives?

Anti-sieze isn't required for spark plugs as you should be changing them on a regular basis. Still, nothing says you shouldn't use it. Or does it say so somewhere?

Cheers,

Jim

Hi, thanks guys. You all gave me food for thought. I’ve decided to not use any anti-seize. 45 yrs plus my 35 , all with zero issues. 3 to 1. I read somewhere that you are possibly more prone to have a “plug spitter “ with anti-seize.

Thanks friends, Darren.

Anybody else out there getting the itch to Mini for a few hours ? Just me ? Naw... :)

Anti-seize is a waste of time on a cast iron head, maybe on an aluminium head but then in 45 years as a mechanic I never have and I've serviced an awful lot of Rover V8's in that time and I've never had a stuck/seized plug.

I don't use an anti-seize product on spark plug threads for a cast iron head.  I do however, occasionally run a thread chaser down the plug hole to make sure that the threads are clean and also insure that the sealing surface is clean as well.  Lots of people don't use a torque wrench when tightening the spark plugs but I do, 18 ft/# and have yet to have trouble with removal.

A thin coat applied to the plug threads is all you need.  There is nothing magic about nickle vs copper anti-seize.  Either will work fine on the plugs.

Greetings fellow Earthlings.

Before joining this forum I had never heard of, and never used anti-seize on spark plugs. 35+ years and I never had trouble removing them, but I notice that this forum ( somewhere ? ) recommends using anti- seize on spark plugs. So tommorow when I buy new plugs for my Mini I’ll also buy some anti-seize compound. Not copper that we use for brakes , but the other quality stuff ( sorry , but I just can’t remember the name. My question is , how lightly do I apply it, and will it affect my torque value ( being a lubricant ) ? Or do I NOT use any as long as I torque my plugs ? Finally, is this a special case where all Minis need anti-seize on the plugs or they will bite you when you want to remove them ?

Thanks everyone, Darren.
