You may find you have to "nip and tuck it" especially if it is an aftermarket panel.

I don't know of any dimensional differences in the cross members.

I have the correct rod change crossmember, I just wanted to make sure it was a very tight fit or if the floor wasn't done properly. If the floor is off I would like to fix it prior to wedging the cross member in and welding it in. sorry if I didnt explain it correctly.
I'm not a huge fan of the the floor being incorrect for a mk1, but working with what I have.

thanks for the responses!

Possibly adding to the ignorance pile, the original MK 1 would have been built for a magic wand, with possible alterations if it was a Cooper. Earliest cars would have a bulge for the floor starter button. I do know that a remote housing (from a Morris  1100) would fit in a 1968 era Mini (formerly magic wand) without floor alterations.

Probably showing my ignorance, but wouldn't you just use the correct crossmember for the remote or rod change floor, depending on which one is present?

I recently bought another project mini. The previous owner fitted a rod change floor to a mk1 mini. I know it's not ideal, but does the rod change floor have the same width as a remote shift floor.? I need to fit the seat cross member and it seems a bit tight.

Another option would be to cut out the rod change floor and replace with the appropriate floor. This would be much more expensive.

If anyone has this information handy or has the ability to measure their own mk1 mini with the correct floor and let me know the measurements that would be fantastic.

thank you in advance!
