According to the 1977 letter image posted, McQueen used the word "appeal" which means an earnest plea, entreaty, e.g. an appeal for help. That's an "ask", not a "demand". We don't know how earlier communications were worded.

An Ass/Prick? where did that come from? All I see is a letter Appealing to buy the car back and offering to find a similar car? Did I miss something? I met Steve and his son a few times when I worked in Newport beach at the Rolls-Royce/Porshe dealership seemed like a nice guy to me............

Mini's are like buses they come along in a bunch

The Mexican jumper is real too but just a rough shell, assembled enough to be a glider with no original parts. The Bullitt Mustang is nearly all original, not restored, but reassembled, and made to run. I hope they leave it that way.

Bill, according to your post, both Mustangs have the same VIN? I know that some Minis here in the USA have been known to have duplicate VINs, but Mustangs????

Copy of the letter McQueen sent to Kiernan. From the biography by James Garner, close friend of McQueen, he was an ass.

A great article in April 2018 . CLASSIC and SPORTS cars on page 127. about the two BULLITT mustangs. vin @8RO2S125558 ( the jumper.) just found in Mexican junk yard. by Hugo Sanshez and Ralph Garcia.. and the other 1968 Mustang 390 GT Mustang vin # 8RO2S125559 and belongs Sean Kierman.. Bob Kierman. son.. and is now fully restored.. seems Steve McQeen called Bob Kierman.. demanding Bob to sell him HIS mustang back.. Bob REFUSED.. my kind of guy.. later bc PS. note corrected vin number for the jumper.. thanks dr mini for pointing out..
