Along with ensuring that the stop nuts have clearance with the pedal fully depressed..have you checked that the slave piston is not bottoming out??

IMHO... if your pedal isn't touching the carpet (...."check that the petal in car isn't hitting the carpet on the firewall"...) then you have an issue with the stop nuts or slave piston....

Another wear area that is often ignored is the bore of the release bearing carrier...  In the good ole daze these were properly hardened so that the ball on the lever would wear before the carrier.  Check that the bore is a straight sided hole and not cupped/indented where the ball presses on it.. I have seen people use grease to lubricate the ball/carrier face but this makes for a great recipe for grinding paste (dust+'wet' lubricant).  I squirt some powdered graphite in there in the hope that it will reduce wear..

Cheers, Ian

How much is the arm moving with the clutch depressed?
Are the plunger nuts hitting the housing when you press the clutch in?
Some of the arms are made of inferior metal and wear out prematurely so it is still wise to check for wear.

You probably have wear in the pivot points somewhere. It can be any of the clevis pins or usually the most wear is found on the pivot arm. Remove it from the cover and look at the end the ball should be round and they usually wear on the one side.
Did you replace the slave hose ?
