12H393 is a late (1970-71) Austin America 1293, with a 1316 head and air pump. I had one in my '71 AA--painted black w/an aluminum BL sticker on the valve cover.

Probably so. I have a 12H298 in a pick up and it is out of a 1969 AA.

If in doubt, flat out. Colin Mc Rae MBE 1968-2007.

12H is certainly a 1275, so that's good!

it's a 1275, probably A+, second H for high compression? others here would know for sure, and it is in the haynes manual.

Looked at a project I'm hoping to pick up.. This is the number on the engine, and I'm not sure what I'm looking at.. I mean I THINK I know, but I want to be fair with the seller... Engine is numbered: 12H393-H415 It's not stock to the car, as it's a '68 registered 1100. (looks like a 1970). No carb on it and has an alternator. I did not look at the tappet chest cover as I simply forgot.
