More 1100 engines worldwide came with the 12G202 head. (also was used on 997 Cooper). These heads have smaller intake valves and ports, but can be ported and the chambers reshaped to outperform a 12G295 head. There is more metal in critical parts of the exhaust ports to let you achieve a better port shape.
Source: Graham Russell (Russell Engineering) in Sydney.
295 heads are thin on the ground over here, so Graham has been modifying 202 heads for years.

If truly cracked most likely no repair but I'll take a look if you can post. Steve (CTR)

Most 1100 s came with the 12 G 295 cyl. head casting. It is widely considered the best cyl. head for a small bore engine. That would be and A series with a bore of less than 2.780. All other heads will bolt up but can reduce performance. I'd suggest you have the current cyl. head reworked and continue to use it for your best result. I have been buying 12 G 295 heads and having them rebuilt with new valve guides to allow use of top hat seals, hard exhaust valve seats for unleaded fuel, last generation lead free triple groove over size valves intake and exhaust. I have only ever found one 295 head with a crack appeared it ran with a burned exhaust valve for awhile. If you go some other way let me know I'd be interested in your head. Hope this helps.
