As an added note to this advice, I believe if the remotes need to be reprogrammed, you also need to send the alarm module back as well (so the reprogrammed remotes match the alarm code.) I don't believe you can just redo by sending only the remotes.

If the remotes are just scrambled, there is a procedure I believe (I can't remember it off the top of my head) to re-synchronize the remote with the alarm. The full blown reprogram is only needed if the remote or alarm module are trashed, or you need a new remote/alarm module.

(New remotes have to be reprogrammed, I don't believe you can synchronize a new remote with the alarm module without the reprogramming service.)

It's working now.  My battery charger has a start function.  I hooked it up and it must have knocked the alarm back to normal.

Just re program the key fob.
I have heard that you can fit a Jap spec ecu and alarm module and it will get rid of the alarm as the Jap spec cars did not come equipped with the alarm.
The system would be fine if it did not reset itself automatically every time you got out of the car.

You can download the factory wiring diagram for a 1999 injection Mini here: //www.theminiforum.co.uk/forums/topic/324929-wire-diagrams-redrawn/

However, if I'm correctly guessing what the local alarm shop has in mind, it won't do any good. They won't be able to bypass the factory alarm system by ripping it out and reconnecting the wiring where the alarm was.

The factory alarm module is linked to the ECU. It's actually coded and paired to it. If the alarm module is removed, the car will not run. Period. The ECU will not function. If the alarm module were defective and you replaced it with another, it still wouldn't run until the alarm module was reprogrammed to match the ECU.

It may be that the alarm just got scrambled. What are you actually seeing? (dash LED blinking? Car totally dead electrically?)

I have a 1999 40’th year anniversary mini. The alarm has locked up and I am unable to start the car. The mechanics at the local alarm shop need a wiring diagram. Can anyone help?  Thanks
