Austin Rover was just one of the many company titles used as BMC morphed through BLMC, BLMH, Leyland, AR, JRA (and probably others...) to whatever was left to sell to BMW....
Were Mokes ever "badged" as ARs??? Much as Minis were badged as Morriss or Austins (or Rileys etc etc) even though they were all manufactured by the British Motor Corporation...
Cheers, Ian

From "Moke, The History": "1985 began with British Leyland becoming the Austin Rover Group (UK)". Thus 'British Leyland Portugal Ltd' became 'Austin Rover Portugal Ltd'. And Portugese Mokes were badged as Austin Rover after that date. It also coincided with a move of production from a plant at Setubul, Portugal to Vendas Novas, Portugal.
In 1990, Austin Rover sold the Moke name, production rights, etc to Cagiva (Italy). Production continued in Portugal until 1993.
"Moke, The History" is a great compendium of Moke production, history, and trivia.
