Actually it's because I've never done this before and I don't understand the sequencing. It's because the plate is 1/8" and the triangular metal piece goes on top of that. So it's all good. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.

Is the rear cam bearing pressed in too far.. keeping the pump from fully seating?

I'm building a 1293 and I was provided a cam and slot drive oil pump. When I try to install the oil pump the cam won't fully insert. I've measured the overall length of the cam at just over 13-1/6" and it matches the one that was in my 998. I've measured the length of the oil pump and cam at 13-5/16" and the block at 13-3/16". The oil pump has a lobe that extends the screwdriver end out about 1/4", which seems to be about 1/8" too much. What am I missing here? Do I have the wrong cam and oil pump?
