well.. good news..  for once from CBP CUSTOMS.. my friend got his moke out of JAIL today.. from Port Elizabeth  NJ. and is driving his  NICE yellow moke from Portugal in NYC today..  he did NOT have to pay the $5k fine either.. later bc

and the ISF must be filed 24 hours *BEFORE* the car is loaded. Even if using a customs broker, insist on seeing a copy of the ISF they filed. You are responsible and liable for the $5,000 if they don't file it.

I paid my broker $180. Good experience. Especially when CBP didn't sign the paperwork correctly - they sorted it all out.

totally agree Malsal.. you also MUST have a custom broker here in the USA set up BEFORE you export it also as the broker in the USA files the CBP 10+2 ISF.. later bc

Stoned or Stupic to import yourself with rules and regulations changing daily it seems.
It seems to average about $150 to use a broker which is money well spent imo when my trip to the port is 400 miles round trip.

just.. heads up.. CBP ( US CUSTOMS) is now enforcing their 10 +2 ISF..  you can be fined $5000 per car. and  vehicle can be SEIZED  and CRUSHED.
