Perhaps I'm just not reading the above correctly, but the Sportspack was an option for any MPi Mini. There are tons of factory pictures showing non-Cooper Minis with the Sportspack arches, Koni shocks and wheels, and I've seen them myself.

Cooper S models did have performance upgrades - they put out a claimed 86bhp vs. 63 stock, and offered an optional 5-speed (from Jack Knight I believe.) You could however purchase the Cooper S performance parts in a package independently (if I recall correctly, it came in a wooden box with a unique ID assigned to it as a certificate of proof you bought a genuine John Cooper kit.)

I might!

Trying to decide what I want.

I would prefer steel wheels and hubcaps like my last JDM.. but I'm keeping options open. Rubber is brand new so not in a hurry.

Hey Spitz, Not stock at all. The stock was British Racing Green.. This was custom. I call it Creamsicle as with the white roof that's what it reminds me of :)

I have never seen that colour on a classic MINI....is it factory, if so, what is it called?

Gromit, I have a set of the pop out windows in Edmonton surplus to my needs.  Feel free to email me if you decide to change them out.  Email address is in my profile.   G.

Yes, I can't believe I gave away a couple sets of pop outs.. Oh well. There are lots of rusted out Mk 3s out there somewhere. A few mods planned this weekend, Group 2 arches, early hinged plate holder on the back, stereo and new antenna... then in the long term: lose the wing mirrors and then paint.. probably Almond Green. Trying to decide on wheels and which grille to use. Might do a MK 1 conversion on the Grille, but I do like the MK 2 Cooper Grille. Really stuck on wheels. The Pepperpots are in excellent condition but I don't love the style. If I could find 12 inch Dunlops I'd go that way, or even steels. Minilight style are too common here for my taste. Ah BC... somethings never change. It's Creamsicle Orange :P

I like it! One of the big differences between a base Mini and others is the pop-out windows for the rear seats. You might want to find some of them as it makes a big difference in the amount of airflow you get.

OOOH! Balmoral! I like that!

Thanks for the info! I figured it was a Mini but wasn t sure what made it that. The arches are being replaced and looking for different wheels soon. I quite like driving it. took me a while to get back in the right hand drive habits though, plus I haven't driven a std in a few years :) Thanks for the link!

So my "new" Mini is home. 1997 MPI JDM spec. I have never owned one this new. It appears to be a base Mini but I am curious what the difference in the MK VII generation MINIs and Coopers is. is it just a trim thing? Wanting to know more about this one.
