I live on the coast of Oregon, we do not get snow here. Hardly ever gets below 40 here.

Would like to hear what the final fix is for your Mini, just to know this site is better than 4 or 5 shops even for a Mini, let alone the great advice for real mini's like this one. Sounds like a great tag line for MiniMania;

This is what I would have suspected as well.

Sometimes, having the dealer re-program the body control module clears up strange electrical symptoms...  Otherwise, it will need to be replaced....

I have a 2002 mini cooper base edition (Canada Launch edition that is #313 of 500 ever produced)

------

I have a very weird electrical issue that 4 or 5 different shops can not figure out.

Here's what does NOT work:

power windows
power locks
fog lights
dash lights
head lights
wipers
blinkers
heater fan
dome light
emergency flashers
brake lights (always on)

Here's what does work:

Running lights
radio
mirror controls
seat heaters
cigarette lighter outlet
the RED lights on the tachometer(not the rest of them though)
the digital windows for the temp(on tachometer)
the trip/mileage window(on the speedometer)
ASC(automatic stability control) on/off switch on the console

Here's what has been done so far:

All fuses have been checked
battery is good (according to mechanic)
alternator is good (according to mechanic)
1 code on the OBDE tool (see below)
ECU reset via unplugging battery and link here in this forum to reset it via the computer.

1 code on the ODBE tool said my battery needed to be "reinitialized", however a mechanic that does this to mini coopers(has many years in the cooper business) claims that he has never heard of most of my issues being related to the battery reinitialize.  The battery is not being drained and is charging fine.  It was not replaced, nor did it die, prior to this issue starting.  It just happened on its own 2 weeks ago.

I do have an appointment to get a new battery and have it reinitialized later this week.  But where I live it is a 2 hour drive ONE way, and I am not looking forward to that drive with no wipers and the brake lights always on, since it is winter here in Oregon and it is suppose to rain that day.

Any ideas folks?
