Thanks, I did replace the camshaft sensor per advice of a friend. The crank sensor looks like a real bugger to replace so figured I would take his advice, but maybe I should do the crank sensor. It sure has been frustrating!

Intermittent problems are the toughest to diagnose...

As George mentioned, a software reload can sometimes clear up strange glitches such as these.

You mentioned camshaft sensor, but was it the crankshaft sensor that you replaced?  The P0302 is triggered by misfires based on crank revolutions - a faulty crank sensor may cause this.

Aside from this, maybe a marginal vacuum leak, intermittent electrical connection, but these are pure guesses....

I had the same problem and took it to Steve's Auto Clinic in North Hills, CA. He was able to clear it, with his computer. No Problems since.

Hey all. I am new here and really hoping someone can help me out. I have a 2005 Mini Cooper (not "S"), and have been fighting a PO302 #2 cylinder misfire issue that I just can't seem to nail down. The car runs perfectly down the highway, but as soon as it warms up and you slow down to stop or hit a traffic light, it starts to miss. Shut it off and restart it, and it runs fine again.

So far I have replaced the following:
Plugs
Wires
Coil
Injector
Camshaft position sensor

The camshaft sensor I just replaced today, backed it out of the garage, let it idle for 10 minutes, and it was missing already again when I got in to move it. I restarted it, ran fine, took it for a spin around the neighborhood, ran fine. As soon as I slowed down to turn around, it started missing again. I restarted it, and it was fine again all the way home.

I am just out of ideas on this thing! I am about to run the thing off a cliff! I just can't keep throwing money at it like this. It's a very nice clean little car, adult owned and cared for all its life. Just turned 90k miles, has always had regular oil changes and been taken good care of. I just can't seem to get this figured out.

Does anybody have any ideas what my issue could be here? I am at a loss at this point.

Thank you in advance for any help!
