The tow hooks are on e bay for as low as 9 dollars, One site claims the way not typical thread pitch is M15.8 x 3.175 Yup, sounds just like BMW.

A question about the tow hook that comes with the third gen minis. Mine is a 2017 Cooper S. What is the thread size? I have not been able to match the tread with any Imperial or Metric threads. Has anyone successfully found a thread size that will fit the nut welded on to the inner bumper? Failing be able to find a bolt that will fit that thread, is there a source for a replacement tow hook at a reasonable price. So far the ones I've seen online are hugely expensive. I'm building a bike carrier and would like to use that point as an anchor.
