No crack on the windshield so we assumed it was probably body panel. Few minutes later, it turned up to be the smaller (stationary) roof glass as it presented a hole but it didn't shatter completely so I was able to duck-tape it.

I called dealership and they said that glass is part of the entire assembly and cost for repair will be $1,942! There is no way I can afford that so I'm reaching to this community for suggestions and knowledge about how to do it myself or if there's a place I can have it done for less money. Thank you all in advance!
I confirmed the rear glass only comes with the entire frame and the price is what you were quoted, just for the part.

If you can find a used part - that would be the way to go.

Thank you all very much. Didn't know about these online databases. Cool stuff.

I think I'll look for one locally. Don't have anybody in Cali, going North, but thank you kindly.

I have a complete working sunroof assembly or I can sell you just the rear glass portion-- your choice. I'm down in San Diego though and I'm not keen on packing it myself for shipping. Maybe there someone who can throw it in their car who is going north?? I'm heading to Willows, CA but not until May 23-26.

Go ahead and pm me and tell me what you think is fair $ to you and it's yours. Just figure out how to get it to you, first.

US
Car-part.com

//www.car-part.com/

Online database for used parts suppliers   . In my own easy quick check.  Sunroof assemblies are 100-200$ ( used of course)

  Do some checking locally for a the sunroof. ... you may still have to install the whole assembly but a used assembly would be better than new ( only what the dealer offers).

Beware of cheap prices = could be very worn or have bad seals.

Mini coopers are starting to show up in our Pick N Pull Yards locally =  another source if you wante4d to pull one youself = also a good way to learn how to dis assemble and re assemble. -- depeneds on how mechanical you are=   to remove a sunroof assembly isnt hard  they bolt into the roof. but  access takes all the work= dropping the headliner and trim for the whole roof.

A Body shop also would be skilled in this type of job.. Another option for this work. and a quote..
