Find someone with 5 or more different ignition keys from late '50s to early '60s British cars, more is better. One will likely fit the boot lock.

Just drill out the lock assembly.

No because all the nuts are inside the boot !

I'm not aware of any body or chassis numbers in the boot.   Later cars have the number stamped in the gutter at the back of the bonnet shut - ie above the carb.

With a little help from YouTube, you should be able to pick the bootlid lock, assuming it isn't seized. They aren't very sophisticated locks.

There is great value to the shell to the right person, or at least parts of it, rotted floors are common. Try to get as many date codes as you can find, the boot latch is dated as well as all the glass, dash switches, voltage regulator, high beam switch, horn, and I suppose more. Other parts are only on 59 and 60 cars. Just a nice, not perfect, set of chrome window latches are worth at least $150.00 It might be worth more in parts, but would be sad to see it cut up. MK1 mini, as well as 59 registry are good site's to find out more.

Austins sometimes also have the chassis number stamped into the inner wing stiffener like Iain says, so look carefully, rubbing the paint down with emery.

Like this - click

Otherwise if the oval alloy tag above the radiator has gone you're going to have trouble.

The FE number dates to early 1960 - but BMHIT cannot trace on FE or body numbers - it has to be the chassis number.

Is it Austin or Morris? Morris should have the digits part of the chassis number stamped into the diagonal reinforcing brace / stiffener between the inner-wing and cross member on the right side where the loom passes through to the Lucas voltage control box. This can be very difficult to see and may require use of paint stripper - don’t sand as the stamping can be very shallow.

The 012865 should be the body number.
It will be a lot easier to register with the Heritage certificate Spank suggested.
