The male unions - as shown in your picture - need the single stage flare as in the centre picture.
Female unions (ie a female tube nut as connected to the flexy hoses on the rear radius arms) use a two stage flare as shown in your LH picture.
Your RH picture maybe either an overdone single flare or for a different make.

Car engines make CO2 and trees absorb CO2. By running your engine you're feeding a tree and helping the environment.

The mini uses double flair fittings for the brakes, and requires a flaring tool with a die to make a double flair. I find that anybody's kit works fine, you just have to prep the tube with a file carefully to be square, true and no burrs or die will break. Make up ten or so practice fittings and you are an expert. The only car I had with bubble flairs was a German MK1 Fiesta, and for it I purchased bubble to double flair adapters. The "universal" flair looks a little cheesy.

These guys have lots of info to confuse you more. Fedhill Brake Lines
The tool they recommend is available on the eBay UK site, under a few names, Sykes-Pickavant is one, I bought one it works perfectly, make sure you get the dies you need to do the lines. The crappy ones in a little red box are worthless.

66S w/ wet suspension.
Seems the more I read about brake line flares and fittings the more confused I become.
I removed the two 8" brake line which goes into the rear wheel cylinders.
In the attached image these are on the left.
I was surprised to see different flare types on these two lines - I believe the left is a "double" and the middle is a "bubble".
I assume one is correct for the wheel cylinder.
Looking into the wheel cylinder the seat appears to be concave.
This would lead me to say the "bubble" flare is correct.
When I purchased the car in 1993 it came with some NOS items including wheel cylinders and SPB8 steel brake lines.
The flare on the right is a Moprod brand. The box indicates it is "equipped with precision universal flares for all
types of seating."
Since it looks similar to the flare on the left can I assume both flares are "universal" and not "double".
I can not find any info re: "double" vs "universal".
I have googled and searched mini forum.
So lots of questions here :
1) are my observations correct
2) what is proper flare type for rear wheel cylinder
3) difference between "double" vs "universal"
4) can a flaring kit make a "universal" flare
5) what else do I need to know about brake line flares and fittings
