Just get the widest point measurement of the new ones and compare with what you have.
As you are buying or have retro ones i am sure they should fit ok.

You can fit the later or the Corbeau brackets shown into your early type brackets by just using a spacer or maybe two to centralize the runners in the bracket eliminating the L brackets in the instructions picture.
Depending which style of seats you buy measure the Corbeau seats 10 times some are very wide at the shoulder level and do not fit in a Mini.
Hope this helps.
Thank you! That's what I was hoping to hear! My car is a pretty early model so I have a 1" gap between the two brackets. I was hoping to get a set of seat brackets to figure out what would work. I was hoping all I needed was some Delrin spacers.  Unfortunately this is after I already purchased a bunch of steel to make my own brackets.

Hoping to connect with Brian and see if his brackets will fit my seats. Crossing fingers. I will let you know how it goes.  Oh, btw -  I have Corbeau Retro Buckets. They should fit, but now I'm nervous.

@mnicoop63 - You've got email.

Ted I will grab them tomorrow. Here is a picture of what my brackets on the crossmember look like. These might be available too if needed. I can't remember if these go to one of my cars or if they are spares. I will find that out tomorrow. I was going to send you a message/email but when I click on the link it says it's not a secure site or something or other. Does anybody know how that all works? Anyhow, my email is [email protected]

The seats are long gone but I kept the bases. They are in perfect condition. I might still have the original paperwork/brochure for them too. I have extra factory seat mounts too that attach to the cross member. If you are interested let me know and I will dig them out of storage. They're in there somewhere.. Obviously we will have to make sure they are compatible with your seats. I'm in Northern California.

I do have the instructions. You don't use the bottom L bracket on the front of the bases. When those aren't bolted in place the brackets that point down from the base fit perfectly in the factory brackets on the cross member.
If you have the bases / brackets, I am very interested. I'm in San Jose, CA.  I'm willing to pay for them if you can dig em out of storage.

Thank you,
Ted

I'm not.

This is what got me wondering. I think that's what the previous post mant when referring to minor modifications.

Well, actually they have ....  My 63 has the bracket that attaches the seat to the car riveted to the seat so the bracket and seat can't be separated.  I think very early cars had a different arrangement again.  I used a later bracket which was then modified (with additional bracketry) to get the seat positioned where I wanted it.

However, (the good news - I hope is that the crossmember has its blind nuts in the same position throughout (the 63 does).

This means you can use the standard 64+ Corbeau mounting by fitting the later model seat mounting to crossmember bracket.

If I was buying remotely (i.e. I couldn't take the car to the vendor to try it out) I would want something in writing that guarantees what they are selling would fit my car.... (or my money back..

Cheers, Ian

Hello

I have a 1960 Austin Seven "mini". I want to install Corbeau classic bucket seats into the car. Does anyone make a seat bracket for an early Mini? Every bracket I see advertised is for 64 or later.

Thank you,
Ted
