I only had a quick look at the diff casing that came with....magic wand with remnants of green paint...as the case had.  Hopefully they're a match

In his post Sean said it could be "either" remote  or wand.  See the PDF linked below which discusses the various cases.

The PDF includes a lot of information on the various uses of the 1128 casing.

I am no gearbox expert.  I suggest that you carefully check the fit of any diff housings you fit to the gearbox.  It is my understanding that the gearbox casing and diff housing were line bored as matched pairs.  When mixing parts you run the risk of parts that won't clamp up right.
