I use this one: https://www.jegs.com/i/Braille-Battery/147/B2015/10002/-1

Weighs 15 pounds and only uses half of the battery tray. Actually I relocated mine to make room for my 15 gallon fuel cell, but it starts my 1.6L VTEC with no issues. Can't think why it wouldn't work just as well on an A-series.

Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) Technology

AGM or Absorbent Glass Mat is an advanced lead-acid battery that provides superior power to support the higher electrical demands of today’s vehicles and start-stop applications.

AGM batteries are extremely resistant to vibration, are totally sealed, nonspillable and maintenance-free. AGM offers better cycling performance, minimal gassing and acid leakage when compared with conventional lead-acid batteries.

The end result of all of the features of AGM technology is superior life performance.

Plenty of choices

You can mount an AGM battery on it's side so that would make it a low profile battery.

I have a red top that I put in in 2004 that I have charged 2 times total. Starts right up after a winter break. It was expensive, but I don't think it owes me anything now.

$162 to my door on Amazon at the time and it is currently $199 on Amazon with free prime shipping.  Is the Interstate a lead acid battery that can leak?  I really wanted a AGM battery that is sealed and cannot leak again for my Mini.  If it was in the engine compartment, I would have bought another lead acid battery.

I have an Optima 35 red top that I bought two years ago when the lead acid leaked and burned a hole through my battery box.  I don't use the Mini very often, but every time I do it starts right up.  I think I have put it on a trickle charge once.  I bought it on Amazon.  I would do it again as well, just knowing it will not leak acid in my trunk is enough for me.

Even charges fine with my original generator.

61..I use the Interstate..  R 26.  with 1000 cranking amps. BUT I have found with MPI and SPI you MUST disconnett the battery if you are NOT driving it every day..  the remote alarm drains the battery.. later bc

I have a trickle charger but use it very infrequently. Probably should make a habit of it. I don't use the car as much as I used to. Should drive it more. But that battery is dead after a week of inactivity. That shouldn't be. And I checked...there is no drain on it from the car. I have an Optima battery in my Triumph and that is very good....BUT VERY EXPENSIVE as you mentioned.

How maintained is the battery that is in the car.. As in: how often is the car used? OR is it kept and maintained on a plug in charger / Trickle charger...

Since going to a trickle charger  Maintainer on my cars it keeps batteries much frehser and topped up... Even sitting for 4-6 months. eeking down,  coming back up and down again doesnt help the longevitiy of any battery.

DID have great luck with a Optima in a Boat that lasted 9 years... with very sparing use.. But at near 400$ its a costly buy in...

Just wondering specifically what replacement battery you would recommend for an SPI Mini? I last purchased a 26R-1 EverStart from Walmart. I bought it less than 2 years ago and its giving me trouble. Any suggestions?
