Amazon.com is showing it available for $45.00 only one left.  I bought my copy from them on November 6.

We've just got back from the 2019 Italian Job run, and spent the last 15 days in the company of the author and stunt driver & car-procurer for the film David Salamone.
Many interesting tales told (that weren't fit for publication) and many laughs shared.

Watching the film in Italian with English subtitles in the Lingotto cinema was particularly special.

One very interesting fact came to light though.

According to both Matthew and David, the high-profile 'driving coach' who stood in front of us all at MMEs telling stories of filming for the IJ was never part of the driving team, or even on set...

As a member of the self preservation society and to commerate the 50th anniversary of the film, I watched the movie the Italian Job last night.

Exactly the same experience for me. Amazon canceled my pre-order, then Barnes & Noble did the same.

and after my order was cancelled by Amazon I tries Barnes and Nobel with a price in the $30 dollar range.
Tuesday while on a drive across country from Utah - Georgia I got their "We have cancelled your order, we weren't able to fulfill your order" email.
Going to their website it's now listed for $40.50 (10% off) but also showing temporarily out of stock
But then Amazon is showing it for $60.17

When the cars are pushed off the bus......look for the RH tank filler.....

I think the correct term is “replica”... or maybe “re-creation or tribute”.

Or, just frauds....  (once the claims to provenance are made)

Pretty interesting how "3 boxes of bits" were turned into 3 lovingly restored Minis.

"After bidding £6,000 for three boxes of bits from the original cars in 2006, 42-year-old David Morton from Newcastle has lovingly restored the cars to their exact original film specification.

They used 16 cars in the film but they were all scraped (scrapped, you mean?) and left in Italy.

Only these three boxes came back to England. There wasn't much in them except for the lamp bars, bonnet straps and lots of small bits. But most importantly the original number plates and log books were there." 

It also says they are registered on their original plates, but the plates used in the film were all fake numbers. I read somewhere else that someone later on registered the fake numbers with the DVLA and had new plates made. I wonder if those are the plates that are on these cars? So the parts they started with didn't even include VIN tags or actual registration plates. 

So they restored three Minis from a set of lamp bars and bonnet straps. Would that qualify as a re-shell? Or a re-vin?

I have never meet Brian Johnson (though I do like his music) so all I know about them was what was on the show. From what they said they were salvaged from the movie and the owner spent years bringing them back to the spec they were in at the time. Check it out, it is a good show all the same. 

My understanding was that they were given 6 Minis by the factory to do the filming and had to go out and purchase 6 more to complete filming.  Now two of them were crashed in the "drivers training" part of the film, three of them were pushed out of the bus to bounce, slide, and roll down the mountain ( they drove onto the bus, but when the bonnet flew off on the way down it seemed like the engine was missing)  But then if they did have 12 cars to do the film and three were "written off at the end of the film" that leaves 9.  A couple were dented but could of been repaired.  

Ok so maybe I did see that movie many many years ago.  My lust for a mini came when I lived in San Diego in the late 60's.  There was this guy going to work in his mini that came down under the freeway, then turned in front of Stromberg where we were standing with our coffee.  He cam thru there everyday like a go kart.  Impressive enough that I finally got one when I retired.  Lovin it!!!!!!!!!!

I doubt very seriously that anyone has 3 of the cars from the original movie. I know John Parnell tried hunting them down back when he was writing his book and supposedly they were either all destroyed or untraceable. You do realize the "G" registration numbers on those cars were fake numbers, as the cars were MKI and that's a MK2 number. Also, the movie was filmed before the "G" registration numbers were issued. Yeah, anyone can bang a numberplate on a car and claim it to be that exact car. Perhaps even a factory"Works" car?

Kolsen: when you buy (we know you will...) a copy of "The Italian Job" movie, make sure it is the original with Michael Caine and not the much later "remake", which is not a remake but perhaps a next-generation sequel.

Brian Johnson, the lead singer for AC/DC, did a show called "Cars That Rock" The first episode of the first season was on the Mini. In it he found the guy that owns three of the cars from the movie the Italian job and gets to drive them. Worth watching.
