Sometimes it is really simple. My situation was admittedly rare. Over time, my clutch pedal arm became bent to the side enough that it limited the travel of the clutch pedal, hence the clutch itself. This was all inside the passenger compartment ( obviously on drivers side. )The two solutions were to (a) straighten out the bent arm and weld a bit of extra beef, or (b)replace the Clutch / brake pedal assembly.  (a) has worked, but I have the spare parts for (b) just in case.

When I had this issue everything checked out and I was still grinding gears. I checked everything. Couldn't find the problem until I pulled the clutch arm off and found the ball on the end of the arm had broken off.  See if yours is bent.

Uummmm No.. you do NOT want the piston to move all the way to the Cclip.  You do want the top of the clutch arm to move about 15/16th of an inch and NOT run into the clip.....

As first step try removing the spring from the top of the clutch arm.  This only a band aid action but will remove a lot of issues relating to wear ....which you will have to fix eventually ..but as a temporary fix..

Cheers, Ian

Having some grinding in the gears when lifting to shift into reverse and small issue getting into 1st. Is it time for new clutch or or there other items that need to be corrected? 1992 British Open Classic
