Two Hundred and Thirty THOUSAND dollars, plus $5k buyer fee to Bring a Trailer.

For some bidders, it's more about winning than the price paid.

Still, a very special car with exceptional provenance.

@6464 - how is your build coming along?

Michael, you better get your bid in early (as you usually do). Perhaps you will win one for a change.

It's one of Bring a Trailer's "Premium Auction" listings and will run for 12 days on this page that's exclusively for high-dollar cars: https://bringatrailer.com/premium/

Quoting from the Bring a Trailer site.

"In addition to these two new levels of service, we also launched the
BaT Premium Listings Page, where the highest-value BaT listings will be showcased and given additional exposure with listing durations up to 21 days. We never anticipated that BaT Auctions would be the best place to sell 6-figure and 7-figure cars, but we have found that those purchase decisions can take longer than our standard 7-day listings allow, so this will be a helpful addition. We are excited to be able to offer this while maintaining our $5000 cap on any buyer fee."

Here's another link where I had posted some additional info on several Beach Minis on this 2016 post.

(There are photos of a few, and VINs)

[ previous thread:  https://www.minimania.com/msgThread/120874/1/1/Mini__beach_car__in_Barrett-Jackson_auction_Oct_13-15  ]
[excerpt:]

Looks like (an) Austin Mini "beach car" is coming up for auction again. (Bonhams says only 14 were built?)

In 2009, it sold at Barrett-Jackson in Scottsdale for $53,900.

In 2014, a different one sold at a Bonhams auction in Monterey for $181.5k.

In 2016, that first one sold again for $56,100 in a No-Reserve auction at Barrett-Jackson in Las Vegas in October.

With the Buyer Commission, the $51k winning bid became $56,100.

Here's a Hemmings article from Aug 20th, 2014:

Here's a 2014 interview by Jeroen Booij with the Florida buyer of the $181.5k beach car:
