the first picture is what I have (apparently broken).
the second picture is from eBay which shows my part unbroken.

now I know I can throw away what I have and if I can not find a proper engine mount i will source a proper one.
engine is not ready to go in the car yet.

Roger, I am confused by your post.  The wording of your first post suggests you found the broken mount in a box of parts supplied with your project '66S.  Are you just curious about the broken mount or are you looking for the engine mount your '66S project requires?

Obviously the broken mount cannot be used.  Your second picture shows what appears to be a similar NOS mount for sale on the web.  The rubber on that part will be 50+ years old.  I would not consider using it on a car that will ever be driven.  The rubber will be too hard. 

I installed a pair of the 21A1902 mounts on my car ('64S) at the beginning of the summer.  The 21A1902 mount is what you want for both the left and right sides of your '66S.

the photo in your original post certainly shows what looks like a broken mini motor mount - it goes between the motor and the subframe and isolates the engine vibrations from the car, making it more comfortable, and reducing wear.

I recommend the ones with the built in nuts - part number 21A1902ST because they are much easier to install

The description of the part says that its for ADO16 cars.  Don't know if it can be used on a mini, why not go to the source for one that you know will work?

As Steve said, what is shown in the first picture appears to be a broken mount (sheared rubber).  Three holes are on one part, two holes on the sheared off piece of steel. 

I expect the modern 5 hole mount will bolt right up but I have no experience with a Mini older than my '64.

The 3 hole mount may also be a Mini automatic mount.

I had already seen this page before but none of the parts looked like my part.
even knowing the part number I still do not see the resemblance.

SO.... I did a little more digging and found what I believe is my part.
it may not even be a mini part!

Our host sells what you need.  Use the search feature at the top of this page with the keywords "engine mount" or part number 21A1902.  You'll find OEM, aftermarket, quick-change, and mounts with captive nuts instead of through-holes.  I suggest OEM.

Not sure when the design change came with what was commonly reffered to as the S design. In other words no you will not
be using that one again. More likely you will use a S design one in it's place. If you find you need the early style mount I may have a NOS around. Steve (CTR)

are you saying I do not need this?

Prety much nothing now. when one pc it was an early mini motor mount. the tendency to shear is the reason
the design was changed. Steve (CTR)

I came across another part I need to identify.
I believe it is some sort of engine/gearbox mount but can not come across it in any catalogue.
can anyone ID it and tell me where it goes (picture would be great), a part number, a catalogue reference, etc.
