Okay we all have opinions.  I wish the value of the cars would go up even though mine will go to my grandson when I pass.  I paid to much for mine, $16,000, and didn't have a PPI, just me looking it over.  My drive home to Oregon from SFO would have been better if I had a PPI from someone knowledgable.  Only 10 lbs air in the rear tires and nothing but high beam headlights.

On the other hand when I got home I found some great knowledgable guys, Jet Motors, that helped me and between the two of us I have the car I wanted.  I'm not a purist so I put a little of my personality into my toy cars (65 Corvette, 72 Porsche 911), and now the Mini.  I've added 13x7 wheels and a front spoiler.  I know, Ugh! but to me it's cool.

Frank,

If you've really got the itch, maybe I'm ready to sell, and I can beat the prices you've seen so far.

Japanese spec Mini. Right hand drive, 1275 Motor, great final drive gear (will cruise at 65 all day long) and A/C. I might be willing to escape the KY winter and drive it down there, that should prove the mechanicals.

My Email is in my profile.

Not sure how he got a 1986 Mini legally registered in California.

Here's a solid looking car. A bit far from you, but gives an idea of market pricing.  Was originally listed for $21k.

Yes Florida uses a sticker too Bill but the Nebraska one shown has two holes in it presumably for attaching it correctly.

The State assigned vin number is not even attached to the car correctly with screws or rivets, it appears to be stuck on.

ve9aa.. I agree. $10k at MOST. more like $8K.. malsal. yea the vin number is state assigned from Nebraska.. got to wonder WHY?? Juddah01.. you always are going to get better deal  buying DIRECT from private party or classic mini club member..  I have never used a broker. to buy ANYTHING.  just in some cases DOUBLES the price..

WAY OVERPRICED.

Like most Minis, itsa bitsa. (a bit from this car, a bit from that car.)

If it runs, drives and stops, it's a $10k car. You're already looking at steering issues.  With a wonky vin, I wouldn't buy it with your money.

Buy a better car in Florida for (probably) less money.

With a NE a the end of that 'assigned' vin number = and the top of the same plate looks like a KA.. Assigned vin by Nebraska would be my assumption...

malsal.. I can NOT find the assigned vin number for some reason?/ Tenn DMV state vin number?? or NCS number??  my guess the confidential vin number did NOT match the vin plate??  did you look at the headliner?? you would think for $19k.. they would have spent $500 and remove the windows.. looks horrible..

I would be asking the vendor why it has an assigned vin number.

Streetisde does  both = they will own some  inventory to sell + they will consign for you too to sell your vehicle.  This Mustang was a consignment....   Say the Asking price was 32K.... Buyer offered 30K out the door + delivered...    Sreetside had to broker the deal that they got paid and the owner im sure had to accept less...and include shipping.
  Accepted @ 30K$

Same with Autobarn in Concord NC = same with RK Motors in Charlotte too.  They're a network selling cars... to a market of 'antique automobile lookers.   They have plenty of online presence to get their names out there to sell all makes and cars.

Cars are sold as is where is =- no warranty = no problem right!

Not to talk trash == friend of mine locally had a 59 Bugeye for sale FB Marketplace...  Listed for 4-6 weeks .. Asking 13K = lowered to 12K = solid driver car .. very clean... useable car.

Autobarn showed up on a Friday = looked it over.. agreed to buy it without driving it or looking under it =  Only asked to deliver it to their location on Saturday the next day -  Car was delivered . Car was paid for   Sale complete.

Same car is now listed - coming soon = @ 22K.....

70K Miles, not Kilometers. What's up with the dash? In a couple of the pictures it looks like the gauge surround is missing. And missing some hoses and some nasty wiring, for that much money they could spend some time detailing the engine bay.

I personally have a co worker that purchased a car from this dealer - Streetside.

the whole deal was fine and dandy= Streetside was fair to work with and honest to what they knew.  and thats it, they only knew the car by what was sitting  front of them. The car they were selling was a 1966 Mustang convertible on consignment.   Car was in Tennessee, owner was in Ohio...  car was shipped to NC.

They had it listed for a customer = when buyer wanted to offer a different price Streetside went to the seller and brokdered the deal.
Money exchanged - and it took a few days for Streetside to get all the paperwork (title) from the owner to transfer to the buyer.

it all worked out in the end.. Streetside is there for just this service, a listing agent to sell vehicles.

In my help of my co worker= we looked over all available pictures.   Streetisde described the mustang well. as its a presentable driver. NOT a perfect show car...    I also suggested to my co worker to have an PPI = Pre purchase inspection... Streetside offered  local 'vehcile' inspectors to choose from  - They were 'independant ' and buyer picked and asked for the inspection on thir own.   I can say we can all be skeptical but in the end this PPI was as advertised.. there were MORE pictures provided. and items noted on defects,. or changes or not in the original sale listing..  items like  -  one inch rip in drivers seat - with accompanying picture.. or  Speedo inop = and a picture of a melted speedo cable....  Radio Inop.. etc.

As a whole the PPI reinforced the thoughts about the car.. buying this car dont expect a 100% perfect car to arrive.  paint ended up being  decribed as' home painted' and yes it had a bit of age and orangepeel...  at the price it was a fair value.

The car was then shipped to NC.. arrived really as advertised... in the end no major suprises...    new owner was suprised for christmas with a new mustang convertible ... quickly for the next week wanted to enjoy the car.. and after repeated starts and go's and stops.. the starter konked out... ( probably a result of alot of previous sitting, now being called into use)     new starter from advance auto =  Shes running again.

Just thought i would write my details of dealing indirectly with Streetside = in all a good experience, and they're a car broker not a 'true seller'   they're gonna make their dollar for sure ..

You advise = fly to TN to drive to south Florida = now thats a crazy idea !! (untested car , unknown quality )  pay the 500-800$  have it shipped....
