Hey Doug L, I also have a GT6 as well as a Spit along with the Mini. The GT was a total mess when I bought it and was missing parts....like the throttle linkage. I used the Spit as a pattern for firewall holes, found a later Spit pedal assembly and made up the carb end parts to convert to cable. good project but it probably would have been easier to source the correct parts! I am presently sourcing teflon lined cable and cable noodles, thanks Bruce, never thought of those. Malcolm.

Thanks Mike, appreciated, will let you know. All, thanks for your input. This isn't debilitating problem, just that the driving experience could be made a little better. Will certainly look into cable noodles! Malcolm.

Malcolm, I thought you had resolved this with the pedal adjustment? If you want a hand let me know and I can pop up to your place. sometimes a second set of hands makes it easier.

I had this problem recently after I had my carb rebuilt. Thing kept binding in the cable housing. Jack told me that the cables were meant for an inside and outside cable and should not be mixed up. However I did mix them up and that did not seem to be a problem what I ended up doing was zip tie and the cable in a rounded direction so the cable would work which it did. In the end I used one or two zip ties and the inner cable does not bind on the outer cable.

We sold our Spitfire about 2 years ago but we still have my wife's GT6.  It's been in the family since new and we will never sell it.  While our Spitfire had a throttle cable, the GT6 has a hard throttle linkage.

Teflon lined cables would definitely work better in heat than those lined with Nylon or polyethylene.  While the other plastics can/will melt with temperature, Teflon will sublime if/when it gets to about 500 degrees.  If local shops don't have Teflon lined cables, there is always Amazon.

Go to a mountain bike shop or look online for cable noodles. They are a formed 90 degree bend. This is what I have done on my car Car with the Weber. I used one and it fits into the firewall fine and then used bulk housing and cables. Works great.

Thanks All for your responses. - Yes, the pull test on disconnected cable is in the works, will do it shortly. - Will search for the 90 degree bracket or possibly fabricate one. - I do have the correct cable, Mini Spares part from local vendor up here. Same part Mini Mania supplies. - Have looked for bike cable, that's a common substitute in the Triumph Spitfire world of which I am a part also. Haven't found a local source for bulk cable locally yet, only specific lengths, none suitable. Will continue looking. One problem with the plastic lined cable is exhaust heat due to the cable exit through the firewall being so close to the manifold. Teflon lined maybe? Thanks again for your input. Malcolm.

Have you considered making your own cable using the plastic lined bicycle brake cables?

Do you have the right cable? There is a specific cable for LHD;  #SBB 10186 Minimania's number.

Try disconnecting the cable from just the throttle body and see if the cable moves easily or not, you should be able to pull it with your fingers, feel for any binding.

Hello All, new to this forum and am asking this question at Chuck's recommendation to resolve issue.
Car is '94 SPI, I have converted to left hand drive. all is well with conversion except I find the accelerator to be quite stiff. Not unmanageable but inconvenient specially when heel and toeing. The cable route is long and curves around the front of the engine to mate to the SPI throttle quadrant. Special concern at the pedal end where the cable is carefully routed to avoid the standard exhaust manifold and doesn't follow the ideal more direct path.
Anyone experienced this issue and found a solution? The cable I used was purchased locally here in Victoria  BC and is believed to be a Mini Spares item, the same as Mini Mania supplies.
Thanks for any info!
