Up north in Metro Vancouver, B.C. our Mini Club has an Annual St. Patrick's Day 'Pat O'Brien Rally', usually held on the Sunday close to the 17th. And, it is named for a former Member who died following a Stroke. For several years now the funds raised go to the Heart Care Program at Royal Columbian Hospital.
This year, my wife Elaine and I are again planning the 2020 rally, however it may be postponed to mid-April, at least, given the COVID-19 outbreak in North America.
Our Club also puts on a Fall Escape each year, scheduled for September before snow tires are required October 1st. A weekend event with over 600 miles on southern B.C. roads. This event is now known as 'Martina's Drive for ALS' with funds going to the ALS Society of B.C. Martina was diagnosed with ALS in Spring 2015 - she had attended Mini Meet East Meets West in Milwaukee the previous summer. A lovely lady and a very good cause. I have planned every drive since the first.
Last September on Martina's Drive, we included a prearranged stop to take part in a Lead/Follow session on the newish AREA27 race track. 3 miles, 16 corners with elevation changes, some blind over the crest rises,...the dang Lamborghini in front of me kept pulling away out of the corners!
Celebrate by all means! Help others if you are able!
