This is what I'm using w/ my iPhone. The Bose unit is 7" x 2" x 2.5". Sounds best under the rear seat, but it’s a little louder on the rear deck. You can't beat Bose for sound quality—especially the bass response. I'd match these speakers against just about any aftermarket door or deck speakers.

I’d bet those motorcycle speakers are awful. 4 Speakers plus an amp for $99 bucks? I think not.

Those just look so HUGE to me. I need all of the leg room I can get. Someone needs to come up with a newer pod configuration for the modern tech smaller speakers.
I recall reading in a mag or seeing online somewhere years ago, where a Mini owner installed smaller speakers in place of the dash eyeball vents. I suppose it would be do-able with or without a woodgrain dash panel. Another idea to consider is using computer speaker pairs. The sound is usually pretty decent in a room so should also be good inside a Mini.

My car came with a pair of speaker pods on the rear parcel shelf. They were "stuck" (barely) in place with velcro. (A Mini's rear window is small enough without speaker pods up in the way.) When I replaced the stereo unit, I moved the speakers to below the rear seat where they tended to slip around. While replacing carpets, I mounted the speaker pods to the underside of the seat shelf extension - the pod housings were plastic, and I used self-tapping screws into the housing. The only holes drilled in the car were through the shelf for the screws. Wiring went under the carpet.

They may not be the best speakers in the world but with a single box RC40 exhaust, it isn't noticeable. Being up off the floor, they are barely noticeable.

Great idea! You've got me thinking. Something like a set of these, two under the dash and two on the parcel shelf or under the back seat.

They sell them they mount under the dash.
I may have a pair to sell.

Anyone make kick panel speaker mounts for classic mini cooper, I don't want to cut doors.
