thanks, I may consider this tire upgrade rather than pay for shipping.

I don't remember ever seeing 10" car tires domestically at your typical "tire place" I think Tire Rack has 165/70/10 Yokos but unless they're local to you, you'd need to ship them. Why not ship them? You're a week away from tires just about anywhere.

Other than domestic/overseas mini parts suppliers (all involve shipping) what local options might I have (no shipping)?   I checked a local tire place (which sells Falkens) and they said they could not get 10” tires but could mount them.

Malsal, Thanks for setting me straight. I've been on 12s for about 3 decades. Should have kept my typing finger shut.

Best all around for the 10" in my opinion is the Yokohama A008.  I've been thru several sets on my '66S wet with 4.5 steelies.  Nice rebuilt,  but  a driver.  For fun, special runs, and AutoX I have a set of the magnesium minilites with the Yokohama A032s.  Our host has them all.

I just looked at the Blockley tire site.
FWIW in the 70's I ran a set of Goodyear G800? block tread tires on a Mini and found them noisy and when they wore down they tended to cup on the front edge of the block tread and yes it was aligned correctly.
I know tire technology has come a long way since then but I have always remembered that and stick to tires without block tread design for all my vehicles.

On Blockley site = Tubes Reccomended on Early OEM Rims.

Please note that although this tyre has been made tubeless capable, the majority of cars that fit this 145R10 tyre do so on the original period wheels. The period correct wheels do not have the safety ridges of a later tubeless type rim, and as such should be fitted with inner tubes. As a result, we have manufactured a better quality thicker Butyl 145x10 Blockley superior inner tube to suit, for those that require them. See below.

Not on a 10 inch Jim they work fine, maybe you are confusing 10s with 12s.
12 inch is where you have fitment issues but although they look wrong imo they can still work with some mods.
In fact a 145 80 10 is the same diameter 19.1 inches as a 165 70 10.

While I have taken my mini off the road for awhile I did drive it 165,000 miles in the last 18 years.
Rain, snow what even the mini was my sole transportation. I tried 10s and 12s and I will agree Falkins
are not a wet weather tire. That includes 145 and 165/10 and both in 12. I can't recall now but I bought
installed and looked at 7 different wheel tire combos. I didn't like any and resold them all on. I currently
feel like a set of MSC 4.5 Mini lite knock offs in S offset with a set of 10 inch Blockley 165s. Now to  decide
between diamond cut or plain edge. Steve (CTR)

The mk1-forum seems to like the Blockley 145/80/10.
Available directly from blockleytyre.com.
I have sent email asking for quote (with shipping) and whether a tube is required.

Factory Cooper S with 4.5" wheels used 145.  They are just fine on 4.5" wheels.  Even 5" wheels are ok with 145's

Both cars pictured have 4.5 Cooper S steelies wheels.

Blue Cooper - Pictured with Dunlop 165 / 70 - 10's

165's are a bit meatier than the 145  fit and ride great.
Will fit and look simular to using the same size 165 / 70 - 10 Falken  + Yokohama A008
145's on a 4.5 wheel will be a bit stretched,  145's on a 3.5 Wheel ( standard 850 Mini wheel) are the correct width.

Go with 165's

Pickup = 165 / 70  - 10 A008 Yokohama's
That was Pre Drum to disk brake conversion = Add 1/2 inch outward wheel spacing- Still within the fenders.

The usual UK suppliers have the Falkens. I ran Camac 10's (which I guess are Cokers now) on my '71 mounted on Cooper wheels they were fine for what the car was. I've had Falkens on my 12" wheeled current car which were ok too, a lot of the UK guys criticize the Falkens for wet grip, but it meant nothing to me as the car rarely sees the wet.
Blockley tires also make a radial 145/80/10 the tread pattern would be cool for a Cooper, there's a thread on TMF about them.

1966 Austin Cooper S
wet suspension
4.5” wheels
no fender flares

I have read loads of posts and I am still confused!

I am simply reassembling my mini.
Not trying to make perfect or go for performance.
I just want to drive it!

Looks like 145/80/10 is “standard” and my options seem to be Falken and Coker.

Any suggestions on tire and source?

I understand the problems related to installation and balancing so please focus on tires/source.
